2007 Undergraduate Summer Seminar Series

2007 URS Projects

Benefits:

• research credit for spring semester
• a $4000 stipend for summer session
• a $1900 stipend for fall semester.

Students will spend 10-12 hours a week in the laboratories during the spring and fall semesters, while continuing to take courses at their home colleges/universities. During the summer semester, they are expected to spend 40 hours a week in the laboratories. It is preferred that students do not take classes during the summer session. If it is necessary, one class is the maximum allowed after the approval of their URS faculty advisor and the URS Program Coordinator.

Please note that while URS participants are allowed vacation and other time off, it is at the descretion of their mentors and faculty advisors.

Students will perform research on projects proposed by graduate students and approved by faculty advisors. These projects have defined goals for the undergraduates to accomplish. Scholars are active participants in the research group, attending seminars and presenting throughout the year. The scholars complete the program with an oral presentation and a written report.
